QUOTE |
OK, OK, I had no idea anyone was waiting for me
to post until California Clayfan called to tell
me. We partied (at Denny's!!!!) after the
concert last night, cried about it ending, took
forever to get the five of us settled into our
sleeping arrangements in Clavia's beautiful
condo, fell into exhausted sleep, and then this
morning talked and talked and talked. Just as we
mentioned checking out the boards, CCF called
and asked me to clarify the discussion I had
with Jerome.
What discussion? I was just kidding with GBB
about that.
All right, all right, enough of that. Jerome was
outside the venue, talking with fans, taking
pictures ("You know you're not supposed to have
cameras," he said, laughing, as he posed for
pictures with fans). He was in a great mood.
Here's our conversation:
EP: So how much do we have to pay you to get
Clay back on the road in January?
J: Hey, the guy's got to take a break sometime!
EP: OK, two weeks off, that's IT. Then back out
there.
J: He'll be back out in May.
EP: [astonished; I absolutely did not expect
this answer] May? But he has to have the new CD
material ready to go back out on tour.
J: He should be ready by then.
EP: May? He'll be ready?
J: Yes. [I don't remember his exact words here,
but it was something in the affirmative.]
EP: You'll be with him on that tour?
J: Should be, unless he fires me for talking
about it with you!
I wasn't sure if I should post this, but after
talking with GBB and a couple of others, we
decided that Jerome wouldn't tell this to a fan
if it was top-secret information. So here it is.
Obviously, work on the next CD has progressed
much further than any of us realized, and I'm
assuming that Clay will be working on the CD in
January. I did ask if Jerome would accompany
Clay on the UNICEF trip, and he said no. I
wanted to ask for more details about the summer
tour, but there were other people clamoring for
Jerome's attention (imagine that!), so I had to
step aside.
So yes, Jerome did tell me that a new tour would
be starting in May and yes, he did say the new
CD material would be ready for that tour. He did
not confirm a release date, but he did say that
the new material would be included on the tour.
The above dialogue is pretty much verbatim,
except where I indicated otherwise.
Wow, I absolutely did NOT expect to hear that
when I joked about getting Clay back out on the
road!!! |

12/12/04
Regarding the Yant Rant
OK…what do we actually know about what happened?
1. One teacher used profanity in writing. Great example she sets
for the students she teaches. She should have been fired for that.
2. Clay “berated” the students for “unclear” reasons. I have yet
to read why Clay and his people were upset with the kids. No one is
talking to that yet they are condemning Clay. Interesting. My
question is what were the students doing? Clay’s people have not
made a statement about that, probably not to embarrass the school
and the school has not made a statement about that, probably not to
embarrass the school. You think maybe the kids deserved it?
I do!
3. A teacher was ejected by security. Whoa! Now that should be a
headline! Teacher of the Year
Ejected by Security at Aiken Rehearsal. Bet there is a
good story behind that. Now that deserves a Yant Rant. Where is
her story on that one?
4. Dinner was late by an hour and a half. That to me indicates
that the rehearsal was way behind schedule. This leads me to
believe that there were behavior problems with the students. This
was not apparently a problem in other concerts. The school has some
explaining to do on this front. And what is wrong with getting
Happy Meals? McDonald’s was a sponsor and kids love that food. Did
they expect Surf and Turf?
I attended the performance at
Madison
Square Garden and the choir had a lot to learn. I would suggest
that this very one-sided story is totally devoid of crucial
details. What kind of behavior would it take to provoke Clay?
Quite a bit of very bad behavior I would venture to say.
5. The check that was not in the envelope may have been written for
a larger amount and a decision was made to write a smaller one
later. Maybe they deserved nothing at all. Maybe someone stole the
check. Maybe there was a mistake in the check. Maybe this is not
true as the school administration would have received it and they
are not talking. Wonder why that is?
These issues should have been raised. The silence on the part of
Clay’s management is understandable as they do not wish to criticize
a school and its students and staff. The silence on the part of the
school administration leads me to believe anything they say would be
incriminating against their own. They cannot speak out against Clay
without having to answer some tough questions themselves and they
are not coming clean on that, are they?
Case closed.

In email I received the following:
The NJ story about Clay stiffing the children wreaks of a
pre-fabricated
story. NBC10Entertainment provided a link to (see
below if you don't want to give them hits) Clay
Aiken Hates The Little Children
This shows the accusations were made by a person who
obviously dislikes Clay
for some reason and even calls him a "f___ little turd." And,
I find it
hard to believe that a child would say, "I felt like a
prostitute, except
that even a whore would've gotten paid." Sure, a youngster is
going to say
that!
How can we, as Clay fans come to Clay's aid on this?? A
negative story like
this will turn people against Clay as it is an unfortunate
human nature to
want to see and believe a negative more than a positive about
such a fine
person as Clay.
As the ClayReport I believe in "we report you decide". I
personally don't know the right thing to do, should we be quiet and
let it die or request further information? I do know that many
people just want to understand what is going on so I have compiled
all the info onto one page. I have copied from the two offending
pages so that you don't have to feel guilty giving them hits. I also
added a copy of google with all the websites that have repeated the
story. Just so you can see how widespread this is.

AMA' quest star revealed
...from OMC: by the way of
the Clayboard
AMA Watercooler speculation: I was watching local (NYC) ABC news a
little before 7am and they had an interview with Dick Clark discussing
the AMAs. After the clip, their reporter, who was very excited to have
actually sat down to talk to DC, said that he had told her who the the
watercooler-fodder guest was going to be. After a few clues, one of the
anchors guessed Jamie Fox and the reporter confirmed that he was the
"superstar" who would be making an appearance, apparently performing
with Twista. So, if there is extra-Clay on the AMAs, this won't be how
its delivered. Sigh.

Clay turning down AI Christmas Special? From the Clackhouse to the
ClayBoard
endersgirl wrote:
An interesting Clay blurb in The Honolulu Advertiser from Show Biz
columnist, Wayne Harada: "Hawai'i won't have an 'Idol' Christmas."
(Sorry I can't link it, the online section is still on Tuesday.)
Apparently there were talks about an Idol Christmas concert at the
Waikiki Shell scheduled to tape October 23 to air in December. It would
have included the top two from the past three seasons.
Quote:
The concert would have featured all the winners from the pop-music
talent search the past three years, so Fantasia Barrino and Diana
DeGarmo from this year and, presumably, Kelly Clarkson and Justin
Guarini from season one, and Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken from last
year, would have explored the joys of the season.
Quote:
Show producers Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warwick were very cognizant of
Hawai'i's response to "Idol" mania, so they were eager to stage the
holiday show here, but in the final wash, two holdouts--Clarkson and
Aiken, two vital components necessary to boost sales--apparently
declined participation. And without their presence, the hopes
evaporated.
The columnist goes on to talk about Clay's Christmas CD, his own
Christmas concerts and that he does have aloha for the state (the lei
given out at concerts). There's another mention of a promoter trying to
bring him here and a cute picture of him that I can't place, but I know
someone here could.

They have, in their hot little hands, a copy of LEARNING
TO SING by GBB at the Clackhouse
Lurking Publisher Buddy comes
through yet again.
They have, in their hot little hands, a copy of LEARNING TO SING. (No,
LPB doesn't have a split
personality; I'm avoiding gender pronouns here *g*)
I've just spent the last hour or so listening to
LPB read me portions of the book.
We'll be posting a few particularly interesting/touching/funny blurbs in
the Chatter section later today -- far enough away so people can avoid
being spoiled if they want, but not hidden in the Den, so non-members
will still be able to read it.
For now, I'll just mention a few very cool (for me) things:
1) IT DOESN'T SUCK!!! :) From what I've heard, it's very much in Clay's
voice -- it's funny, snarky, self-deprecating and, at times, very
painful.
2) It is not overtly religious in tone. In fact, Clay makes it very
clear that his faith works for him but that he doesn't expect everyone
to share it or need to. He addresses YWT explicitly in a way that I
think will make some here very happy.
3) It will surprise you. There are things about his life and family
experiences that many of us, I think, believed to be different.
4) It will break your heart at times. I'm going to post a scene in
Chatter that literally sent chills over my whole body. I'll never watch
Solitaire again without crying.
5) You'll love Clay more than ever. (Okay, that's no surprise).
Non-spoilery mini-quote: "If I had a halo it would be crooked."
Warning there are
spoilers from the book. If you want to know more here is a link to the

Very interesting post from the Clayboard:
by
way of RHT
QUOTE
I've got to tell you guys something. I was kind of upset with the
Milwaukee Threatre as I was the first one to call for tickets for Clay's
concert. I was told wheelchairs were not allowed on the main floor. When
I got there, there was about 35 wheelchairs on the main floor and I
ended up getting one of the worse seats in the house. So today I call to
tell them that I was upset by this. After our conversation, I told the
person how the security didn't run things very well out back when Clay
came out. This is what is interesting.
The woman told me that Clay's firm called them and told them that they
needed security outback, because Clay was going to greet and meet some
of his fans out back after the concert last Friday at the US Cellular
arena. They didn't know how to handle this. The woman said in 28 years
in concerts, she has never had a request as such. No star has ever
wanted to shake hands with their fans. If anything the stars told the
Milwaukee Theatre to keep the fans away from them. They admitted that
this stunned them. I told them to get use to it as Clay was getting
bigger every day and even when he was huge, he wouldn't change. He will
still want to meet his fans who put him there. He will never forget us.
If this was a wonderful impression that our man Clay left on the
productions minds. I bet they will start admiring our man too.

8/30/04 Message
from Nick's Mom from the Clayboard
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello to Everyone!
Though I have lurked here occasionally, I decided to make a post today
due to a story going around about my son, Nick. Actually there are two
stories I would like to clear up. First, the story that my son divulged
personal information about Clay including his living arrangements, etc.
is totally untrue. Nick has been best friends with Clay since high
school and he takes his job as Clay's assistant very seriously. He
simply would not share private information regarding Clay and his
personal business. Nick is indeed working towards a Masters in
Education, and is only one semester away from his goal. When Clay
offered him his current position he was more than happoy to take it and
he and Clay are really enjoying spending so much time together. Of
course as a mother, I hope he will come back and finish his Masters of
Ed. and I have complete faith that he will in the future. He is having a
great time meeting all of Clay's wonderful fans and he is happy. That is
the important thing. As of last night he still was undecided on what he
would be doing when Clay's tour ends.

interesting post from CH from the ClayBoard
interesting post from CH
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My friend's son knows Nick and he met them at the MN concert. Son got to
tour the Clayton's bus (Mom was not happy), but Clay did send an
autographed pic out for her. And here's what she learned from Nick, (who
is adorable, she says):
His gig with Clay is a paid internship for a Master' Program for which
he is receiving credits.
from CH:
Nick went to visit her son at a camp where Adam is a counselor and Nick
used to be when they were in Maine. Clay was going, but changed his mind
at the last minute.
Clay bought a house and Nick claims he is still rooming with Kim.
Clay has sneaked in and out of movies on occasion
Clay's bus sleeps 6 and each bunk has it's own TV, DVD and Playstation.
And the best for last: Nick says he is so happy because Clay's
confidence is soaring, especially with the women!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

8/25/04 Radio Max dumps
Clay #30 REMOVED FROM PLAYLIST
RHT Note From Radiomaxmusic Staff, from post on the Clayboard
The ClayBoard Clay removed from RADIOMAX
Ron Kovacs just posted this on Bolt...about Radiomax...
QUOTE
Topic: RadioMax & Aiken
Aug 25 2004 9:55AM
I am really tired of this debate and not going to waste the time I have
on this. I will explain why he was taken off the Top 70 Poll and my
reasons for dropping additional support, and I want you to thank
yourselves for this decision.
1. RadioMax is NOT a CLAY AIKEN exclusive station. It is an Internet
Radio Station currently ranked in the Top 50 in popularity. We have been
around for over 6 years and have tremondous support across genres.
2. The constant commentary and accusations I receive in email, Toll Free
voice line, and forum postings have pushed me to make a decision.
3. Last week up to Sunday afternoon, there were over 4,000 votes
received on our Top 70 Chart. Over 2,300 for the number one tune and 435
for Clay Aiken.
4. This is a business not a place for artist fans to comment and
manipulate our services for personal benefit.
5. We provided Clay specific programming for YOU with the hopes that you
would listen. There were banners and numerous postings that it was
available and or playing at specific times. There was NO interest as we
received the LOWEST listen times in over a year.
6. There are 7 specific people who burden our voice lines with the same
requests 3 and 4 times a day. Emails that are NOT re-written but carbon
copies of the same, " I want to hear my new favorite tune The Way etc...
from my new favorite artist Clay Aiken" Day after Day.
7. I have personally extended my time and programming hours for support
of your artist and the only thing I have gotten out of it are bad
mouthing and negative commentary.
8. With all of this and more, I see no further need to participate in
the antics and bullshit that surround this artist. It is abusive and far
past my expectations and support.
9. I do not want to blanket these comments to the entire supportive and
caring members of the community. If not for this community, I would not
have met the love of my life, BRS aka Jamie. For that alone it was worth
all of the nonsense, but there comes a time to say enough is enough.
10. There are many to thank and I know that have gone out of their way
to support RadioMax, MixNJude - Claytyme - Songbird, LRClay, Hisyous,
Mona Lisa, Mannknows, Jenny, and countless others.
11. We will revisit this situation at our next staff meeting during the
beginning of September and I will let you know what support we will or
not provide.
12. A Word of Warning - If what we have gone through at RadioMax is any
indication of what others have or are going through, you can forget
about and type of support for Clay Aiken.
13. Lastly for those that will respond with negative comments. We are
not the biggest thing on the planet, but I think we do have influence
and a platform to reach more people than you. Please don't provoke me to
make this a part of my next program. 30,000 people a week listen to what
I have to say and I can take this up a notch if you want.
Regards - Ron |

Clay NOT in L.A. on Sept. 4 from the Clayboard
I drove down to the venue and just got back. The lady
confirmed to me that Clay is NOT going to be there. There is an 80's
cover band that night. I explained to her the situation about Clay and
she said, "No wonder all the phones are ringing off the hook" and they
were ringing as we were speaking.
Apparently somebody at Stubhub got some wrong information. The names of
the Lubbock venue and this dinner theater were similar. But... IT'S NOT
HAPPENING.

have already been on the phone with The Canyon Club here in California.
Clay will not be appearing there. The woman said that she has been told
that the new concert is in Texas at The Canyon Theatre(she was sure
about the name). This makes so much more sense. The theatre here in
California is much to small a venue for Clay. Plus it makes sense all
the way around for it to be a Texas venue for logistics alone. I am
actually kicking myself as I type for even considering that this could
possible be true in the first place. I guess Clay Hope Springs Eternally

GMA concert summer series featured Nelly today (one of his songs is
Shake Ya Tailfeather). He sang a song called "MY Place." He's singing
about a girl he wants back because she left him for another man. In the
recorded song he sings come on over to my place because anything he can

During the GMA concert, he changed up the words... he sang,
"Anything that Clay Aiken dude can do, I can do better." (Nelly wishes!

Lubbock cancelled - venue closing from the ClayBoard
Quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am SO sorry everyone! Especially all of you with travel plans..the
Lubbock show has been cancelled. The Canyon Amphitheater has "gone
under" and is closing immediately. AEG canceled the show as of about 10
minutes ago. This news comes from my friend at Select-a-seat. The local
TV news is on their way to do the story. Select-a-seat will start
issuing refunds Monday Aug.. 23rd. You will have to mail your tickets
back or fax a copy of them torn in half before they can refund your
money, unless you can go in person in Lubbock to the main office. Please
don't call select-a-seat as they cannot do anything until Monday (my
friend said to say that.. haha, I know none of this is funny). Needless
to say, I am devastated and am so disappointed I won't get to meet all
of you..unless you come to Lubbock anyways and need a tour guide.
Anyways, thought I'd break the news ASAP.

I'm glad I bought the Blue Banner Bio of CLay Aiken from the
ClayBoard
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I received this book in the mail yesterday I sat down and read
it immediately. Although a few remarks raised my eyebrows (Did he really
dye his hair from brown to red!), I find this book by John Torres to be
just what it was intended to be: a brief biography written for grade
school children. As a former first grade teacher I can imagine the
excitement of a grade school age Clay fan owning a Clay book that he/she
can read all by themselves.
It gives a very positive overview of Clay and his rise to stardom from a
life "most people not born into stardom can identify with." There are 5
Chapters: "Second to None, Growing Up, Helping Kids, Idol, and A True
Idol." It also has a few beautiful photos of Clay scattered throughout
the book.
I think it highlights those aspects of Clay's life that are important to
him and gives a capsule version of how he got to where he is today.
We avid Clay fans, who follow Clay everyday and see every picture that
was ever taken of him and know what kind of milk Clay buys, may find
this to be nothing new, too brief and its accuracy in a couple of places
somewhat questionable. I mean, none of us would ever think that Clay's
AI performance of Everlasting Love (or any other performance of his) was
"mediocre."
But for the most part I enjoyed this book and am glad to add it to my
collection of Clay memorabilia.

Blue Banner Biographies, Don't waste your money!! from RHT
I don't know if anything has been posted on this subject. If so, I'm
sorry.
I just received my Amazon order. I had ordered the Arthur audio tape and
a book called, "A Blue Banner Biography: Clay Aiken" by John A. Torres.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. This book is ridiculous. There is nothing in it
that anyone with access to google couldn't find in 5 minutes. Anyone
that's ever heard the name Clay Aiken could have done a better job on
this.
Ruben's name is misspelled throughout the book, one time it's Stoddard,
next time Studdard. This helps show what a shoddy piece of work it is.
Todd is mentioned in passing, but it's certainly not worth $16.95 to see
it.
[QUOTE] An Arizona man named Todd Venice started an online fan club for
Clay. Within a few weeks the club had more than 5,000 members. Venice
had a good explanation for Clay's appeal. "Clay touches the geek in all
of us," he told Nick Marino of the Atlanta-Journal Constitution, "We
watched him bloom like a flower almost. His first appearance on American
Idol was so opposite a pop star. You could never imagine him being a sex
symbol- it was just the opposite." [QUOTE]
This book is a phenominal waste of money and time. Save yourself the
trouble of printing out a return label and heading for the post office,
don't order it in the first place!!
In my return box, I told them if they needed it re-written, my 10 year
old was available. |

Bad Stuff about Clearfield concert from
idolforums.com
Cause I need to get this off of my chest....
While the Clearfield concert was AWESOME, a lot of crap was going on behind
the scenes...the local TV station who sponsored the show even bad mouthed
Clay! There is a thread about what went on here:
http://p219.ezboard.com/ftheclayboardfrm42...icID=1540.topic
Someone posted on his official website that she was promised backstage
passes but that when she got there, she couldn't get backstage because Clay
had too many rules. He supposedly only wanted 9 people back there at a time,
which to me, makes sense since there was no real backstage area and he had
to stay in a trailer. Would you want mobs of people surrounding you in a
trailer? She said that Clay demanded 60 armed security guards and get this?
that he had originally threatened to cancel the concert unless they built a
cement wall so that nobody could see him.
Yes, I did just say A CEMENT WALL.
Clay may be crazy but he isn't stupid.
Another person heard the fair workers say he was acting like a diva and that
he would only allow 6 (not 9) people backstage and that two girls who won
Meet and Greet passes were in tears because they weren't going to get to go
meet him. Apparently the fair workers get to go backstage first and meet him
and since he was only allowing 9 (or 6 or whatever) people in at a time, the
girls who won the passes almost missed out until two fair workers gave up
their spots to them. Why would the fair people even get to go backstage if
half of them had no idea who he even was to begin with?
BUT LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT SECURITY!!!!
It was bad enough that anyone could just walk up to the buses and nobody
stopped them, but hear how they talked to a disabled fan!
In that thread on the clayboard, this fan, who is in a wheelchair, talked
about how she was treated like crap. Apparently she was under the impression
that she would get good seats because she's in a wheelchair but when she got
to the concert she realized that she had bad seats where she wouldn't be
able to see anything. So she and her sister asked a security guy if he could
move them closer. He was refusing too and was not cooperative, and when the
lady in the wheelchair said that they need to learn how to better
accommodate people in wheelchairs, he WENT OFF on her. He called Clay names,
complained about what they had to pay him, that he had too many demands and
that he would never be asked to come to Clearfield again. She started
yelling back at him, telling him how thankful they should be that they got
Clay to play there and how upset Clay would be if he knew how they were
treating his disabled fans, and she was so upset that she started crying and
shaking. He eventually moved her closer, but geez, these people are nuts!
One security guy did yell at a fan to get away from the bus saying, "He
doesn't want to meet YOU!" and then proceeded to flirt and get his picture
taken with some of the females backstage.
Another guard told a fan that Clay was obnoxious and she said, "Oh so you
met him?" and he said, "No, and I don't want to!"
If I were him I may have cancelled the show and definitely not have done a
meet 'n greet. Anyone and I mean anyone could walk backstage at anytime and
most of the time the so-called security wasn't paying any attention.
That disabled lady is going to write a polite letter to the fair, explaining
to them the problem, and how they need to handle situations like hers.
Someone made a good point and told her to try to get something in the local
paper. They'll probably be more willing to make changes if it's brought out
into the public eye and hey, if the fair has no problem with bashing Clay to
the press, then she may as well try to use the same press to do something
productive. They've never seen a concert this big (according to fans who
have been to the fair previously and according to someone who's brother
works there) and I think they were overwhelmed and have never dealt with a
pop star (or their fans) of his size.
But wow, the fair even told a fan, "We hope you enjoy him, because we won't
have him back" and I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that they
didn;t even know really, who Clay was. They probably thought he was just a
guy from a reality show and that he would go along with all of the fair's
expectations, like all of their other headliners. I doubt very much that
they expected Clay to put his foot down and say NO to them on a few things.
I knew these people were clueless as to how big Clay was but it's horrible
how they treated his fans and then slammed him not only TO the fans but even
the press slammed him!
One fan was right...they're just too small town in their thinking.
Some fair personnel even complained about the ticket prices saying, "Who
does this guy think he is, charging $28? We saw Brad Paisely for $18!"

From the Clackhouse:

**My hairdresser does Paula Abdul's hair on occassion. She's always
telling me how Paula bitched about Clay stealing Ruben's thunder.
**So I would assume that Paula's seeming affection towards Clay
during the run of AI2 was not "real?" Or, perhaps, it WAS real, but
she fears looking like an idiot for backing the wrong horse.
**According to my hairdresser. Paula genuinely like Clay as a
person. But was definatley not happy with how things played out
after season 2 ended |

Okay, I really think I'm the only
one to bring THIS clack....
Mr AH brings home a book from the library and says.."Hey, here's
Clay!
The book is "Illustrator CS...a Designer's Guide to the Art of
Digital Illustration with Adobe Illustrator" There in Chap 6, figure
39: "American Idol contestant Clay Aiken. Illustration by Laurie
McAdam, The Modesto Bee" It looks like he's litening to Simon. Head
& Shoulder shot, looking down toward someone/something with a
serious look.
Baby is everywhere. |
