First of all, the weather in Atlanta was the pits - freezing and raining. It took us nearly 2 hours to get from one side of the city to the other.

Anyway - it was a full house tonight folks! 14,000 people and it was 90% Clay fans from what I saw. We had FANTASTIC seats. Third row - the stage was so close to the first row of seats - it was incredible. I could the pupils of his eyes!!! I could see his freaking shoe laces!!!!!!

I think the majority of the folks sitting in the first few rows got in on the RCA presale - and they were all Clay fans up there. Simonncharge was in the first row, Pipe Dreams, Invisible926 and loveyouclay were sitting right behind me. We had such a good time!

He sang the same songs as last night - starting with Kyrie Elesion. I'm not sure where the heck he came out from because everyone was expecting him to come out from the side of the arena like he did last night, so everyone down front was standing on their dang chairs. And then we saw the spot light near the very back of the arena. He walked all the way down the aisle to the stage. I couldn't see him, but the electricity in that place was just overwhelming.

He did add the full version of I Survived You tonight (thank you, Clay) and When the Doves Cry gave me heart palpitations.

I don't know if it was just me who noticed, but he must have had something spicy for dinner cuz he kept burping!! Only I would notice something like that.

One of the girls in the second row brought this big stuffed monkey. Clay saw her and motioned for her to throw it up on the stage. She did and he was making these faces like "hurry up and take a picture of me with your monkey" (he was in the middle of singing a song). It seemed like it took her forever! Then he threw it back to her. I thought she was gonna explode she was so excited.

I'll think of more tidbits in a minute. My mind's still racing!

I think he might have been wearing the same outfit as last night - blue long sleeved shirt with darker blue trim, a matching tie and gray slacks.

During one song (I think it was WYSYLM), he did this little dance move with the back-up singers and everyone screamed. And then he made a face like, wait - there's more. And he did another fancy move or two and he made a face like he was so proud of himself. I put my arms out and bowed down to him a couple of times. He laughed!! I had Clay contact!

My boys had a wonderful time. This was their very first concert - I couldn't think of a better artist to start them off with!

The Beau sisters sang all but their last song acoustic - it was pretty nice. But one of boys said on the ride home that it was kinda gross that they showed their stomachs (they wore very low-cut blue jeans and tight belly shirts). I thought they looked fine though.

My boys thanked me over and over again for bringing them. They said it was the best night of their lives. I hope they remember it always. Oh, and they both serenaded me in the car on the way home with Measure of a Man. I could hardly drive I was tearing up so much. I love you, Clay!

Quote from a Kelly board

"YAY ! I went to the concert last night and I have to say KELLY ROCKS !!!!
Clay really impressed me. He seems like a good southern gentlemen. Like Kelly, he seemed to care so much about his fans and not just his fans he seemed to care about all of us that were there. He's not as talkative as Kelly but I can see why our girl wanted to tour with him. He's talented !! DA BOY can sing ! but I think he's a really great guy too. After reading my program last night, I felt really good about Clay. Another thing, I felt they wanna take care of each other, like family takes care of each other Like Kelly will be safe and not used. I had such an awesome time LAST NIGHT..I wish I could go again ! When he sang open arms..he was singing it in a lower register..and Kelly was singing with him in a higher register and they sounded awesome together!

Alright, here is a recap.

Clay started with Kyrie. His voice was magnificent, just soaring above the screams of the crowd. I am so glad that he performed this, as I have been so excited about it since I heard it was a possibility. Set the tone just right for the kind of person he is. I loved it.

Next was Perfect Day, with all kinds of cool embellishments. I love how vibrant his vocal was on this upbeat, happy song.

He spoke a bit, too hard to hear.

Next was I Will Carry You, full of emotion, followed by a version of When You Say You Love Me that was more country than the recording.

He talked to the crowd again. This is pretty close: "It has been an amazing year for me... One thing makes Charlotte very special to me... American Idol audition was right here... I didn't make it, but it worked out okay!... I made an amazing friend one year ago. I am so glad she decided to join me here on the tour... I've got a roommate named Kimberley Locke... we've done a duet for her album... My dear friend Quiana Parler will sing it with me tonight. It's called 'Without You'.

This is not the Harry Nillson song, but another really lovely ballad. Clay sang with such romantic fervor...(QP sounded great singing with him.)

"Run To Me' --- my favorite, and I thought the harrrd RRRs would kill me. This song is just heartbreaking...

Clay talked some more: "Thank you very much. In church... (loud noise from his microphone). Whoa, feedback, hold on. (Everyone laughs.) In church... people sitting aroung singing and one song leads into another, two become four.... Angie (?) and Jason and Quiana and I... Let's see how it goes."

This was the acoustic section, so perfect for that wonderful voice.

And there was his pure clear voice, singing Measure of a Man. It is simply his anthem... an amazing performance.

I lost the signal here, I think.

When I could hear again, I struggled to recognize the words --- and then I knew what it was, "When I Need You", recorded but not released on MOAM. He gives the song what it usually lacks, strength and a backbone!

Here's where the tears that started in MOAM really started to flow --- long before Ckay, one of my favorite songs was by an artist who is another lanky North Carolinian, James Taylor. It touches my heart deeply to hear Clay singing Carolina on My Mind, a song of longing for home.

And then I started to scream because I had been given a tip, and I kept my mouth closed despite great temptation. I knew The Artist but not the song --- and it's Prince's When Doves Cry!!! (One of the few that would pass the lyric test!) Screams are so loud I can barely hear him!

On to perhaps the most passionate performance yet of The Way... I love that song more every time I hear it.

Off he goes, but I am hearing from my sistah Shirt Tuggers that the band is still in place. In a few minutes, I hear a familiar introduction --- it's Clay's Group Two song, "Open Arms". Then I hear a second voice... it's a duet with Kelly. Great, great rendition.

That's the concert, minus the times I lost the signal. I didn't get to hear Fields of Gold or Invisible! It was still one of the best experiences of my life!

Clay entered the stadium from the SECOND LEVEL, walked all the way down to the floor and took the stage from there, all while singing Kyrie!!!
WOW!!
Major, major, low and sexy shirt tugs during, KYRIE, Run to Me, Invisible and Doves!

During Doves, strutted all over the stage, left, right and center, they catwalk stayed and people were almost close enough to touch him! He danced, clapped, and tugged during Doves! (that song is the shoe stopper, right there!)

Gray suit pants, dark blue shirt, with thin tie, untucked, no changes!!

His hair sounds like it is similar to SNL!

I'm just back to my hotel room from the Charlotte concert -- just so fantastic I can hardly believe it -- and haven't read many of the postings but saw the list of questions from renee... I will try to answer them:

1. He sang full versions of his songs, I believe. He did not sing full versions of all of the acoustic songs -- one of them was Fields of Gold; I was in heaven!!!!

2. There weren't many Kelly fans around me so I don't know if her fans stayed or not. From the sound when Clay entered the Coliseum, nobody much could have left!

3. They sang the duet as sort of an encore -- the very last song.

4. Clay did not change clothes; Kelly did.

5. Clay did not dance, except for moving around some when doing Invisible. There were no dancers.

6. He did not say anything about TITN or song choices other than how they happened to start playing around with the acoustic songs and added to the number of them.

7. Programs, T-shirts, pictures, and bears were being sold -- not sure what else.

8. The lights were noticeable but there weren't lots of them. He didn't mention them.

9. The end of the show was the duet.

10. Kelly's reception was polite. The contrast was extremely noticeable.

11. A bear was thrown on stage -- I didn't see anything else.

He was so fantastic and looked so very happy. It was just wonderful. If anyone doubts that he is doing what he wants to do, wait until you see the video.

rehearsal update...Clay will be singing To Love Somebody..............who will be left alive after that?????

Someone asked about Solitaire and she answered:

my friends are in the music promotion business and have been in and around the rehearsals...something they do with tour promotions has brought them into contact with the company running this tour (how lucky is that??? anyway...they know I am a huge...did I say HUGE Clay Aiken fan (they were not till they heard him sing now it's like they discovered him or something) anyway, once I found out I have been bugging them for info but this is just one of the many things they do and they are not real high up executive types (which is probably good or they would not have access to the actual work that goes on behind the scenes) any way my one friend who was not at all a Clay fan said the hair on the back of his neck stood up when Clay sang Solitaire and he stopped, sat down and listened to him work out the whole song then went back to the office telling everyone who would listen how great Clay is!!! cracking everyone up!!! anyway...that is all I know. If I hear anything else I will tell you all.

also everyone was told this week the single will be released on March 16...

I'm bringing a rumor that was posted at RHT premium. I know, I know, it's an unsubstantiated rumor, but it is so drool worthy that I just have to share.

Quote:
Warning: This is a rumor with very little sustantial behind it--so don't take it too seriously.

This may be the first time I have ever passed on an unsubstantiated rumor--BUT--I did think I should share it just in case there is something to it---

My friend Peter actually works in the film industry in So Cal. He has never worked with or met Clay--and he rarely does music videos--he mostly does the video work for commercials (he just finished up a commercial for a used car dealer--it's a living). But, he is in the business, and he says he heard a rumor they are thinking about making the up-coming single CD an enhanced CD, containing the video for the Way. He said that Clay is not planning to shoot a separate video for Solitaire--but that there has been some discussion of using concert footage as a "video" for the song---and yes--he claims that Solitaire WILL be sung on the tour. This does fit with the Chat--where we were told that we would be getting Solitaire in one form or another soon (paraphrasing). This would also explain the delay in releasing the single...

I don't know if a word of it is true---but we will know in a few days if Solitaire is sung at the first tour stop and that is a start....

The picture your not supposed to see from The Way video shoot (2/12) Updated picture (2/14)
The Way Video tidbits (2/14)

.... did my usual wandering around other sites to see what's going on, and I found that Mandersme at Clayboard has now been shown a brief glimpse of the video, and it's sounding hotter by the minute:

Quote:
Oh I was never told when or if I could leak information. That wasn'y my intent. I've known about the video since last week but I knew if I started a thread, the focus would either be on me about how I knew this information and who I really am (I'm really not a leak for RCA, FOX or anyone else. I'm just a lowly journalist that knows some very influential people associated with him and RCA) or about how much people dislike the video concept or whatnot.

I'm not saying they REALLY will hold the video off until March but it could be likely. It's not always the record companies that decide when a video premieres on MTV--some of it depends on what other artists have videos debuting around the same time. TRL knows what kind of power Clay holds and will prolly try to do anything they can to get the video on the air as soon as they can..

But...but...but...

I'm surprised no one has picked up the other little tidbit I posted about the video....

How H double O triple T He looks in the video!!!!!!!

From what I've been told and have heard, he looks GORGEOUS!!!

And no, I haven't seen the video yet. I don't expect to see it before anyone else does unless my begging and pleading does the trick and I can get a little sneaky peeky.

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!!

I've thudded gone to heaven!!

I'll be back later to explain but let's just say....VERY INTENSE LOOKS AT THE CAMERA!!!!!!!!!

I'll put to you this way..

1 video....less than 30 seconds seen....rough and i mean rough footage....intense looks....camera zooms....lots of thudding being done..

Need I say more?

And yes, thudding and going to heaven is a good thing! Now I just I get more soon from an unnamed benefactor...

Didn't see too much but all I can tell you is lots of good looks at the camera---not intense like TITN. More like the looks you get from him when he was on SNL or R&K.

Okay 1 tidbit for you...

the camera zooms in and you get a clear view of those eyes of his...

Freckles? You ask?

*sigh* Uh Huh *sigh*

PDK not selling Laurie McAdam's Clay T-shirts any more. (2/1)

Re: Laurie McAdam t-shirts??

I talked to Laurie last night and she doesn't know what happened. She didn't even know about it until she got a bunch of emails. She is writting PDK and her other NC friends to find out. She will let me know.

I don't think it is because they ran out. They wouldn't run out all at once...they would just print more.

I suspect that it is probably some issue with Group 19 because they weren't making any money off the shirts. Part of the profits went to B/A. By the way none of the profits went to Laurie. She donated her art work for the shirt to benifit the charity.
